Title of Announcement

With a grant given through The RIAS Millennium Awards, funded by The National Lottery Antonine Walkway Trust co-ordinator James Hunt has just published a booklet on the mining history of Croy Hill from the early 18th century to the mid 19th , copies can be obtained by contacting James  at the address at the foot of the page or by Email, all monies given will be donated to Charity. On completing his project Mr Hunt was also granted lifetime membership of the Millennium Awards Fellowship (No32865) The booklet gives details of the working and housing conditions of the miners and the lays out  in detail  the mines in which they worked.

Friends of the Kelvin Valley launch their walks leaflet, pictures courtesy of the Kilsyth Cronicle and Cumbernauld News.

Friends chairman James Hunt welcomed a good turnout  to the launch at Croy miners social Club. Members were joined by Cathie Craigie MSP, Councillors Jean Jones and Mark Griffin  members of North Lanarkshire Council Rangers Service, Planning and Environment and community Teams a representative from Central Scotland Forest Trust and Geoff Atkins  of the leaflet funders Scottish Natural Heritage. Local groups were well represented with members of  The Croy Miners Social Club, Croy Historical
