 The Antonine Walkway Trust would like to take this opportunity to thank Tarmac and Tarmac Northern Ltd for their assistance in this project, without who's help it would not be possible.

Antonine Walkway Core path restoration Plans 1st phase update;

In addition to other funding ,The trust has received a massive boost in the shape of a grant  of £34.000 to carry out work on the path network, the money  has come from a  Aggregates Levy Community Environmental Renewal Grant ,which is administrated through The Sustainable Action Fund  at the Scottish Executive.

Sections of Core Path Network to be upgraded, first picture, looking down the Nethercroy road from the first kissing gate, this section, as you can see is in very good condition and requires no or very little work done.

   

The new fence highlights the tarmac road surface : requires little work done.

Three generations inspect the walkway upgrade.

 

Preparations are ongoing to ensure a sound base and good drainage

A group of access officer's at the invitation of East Dumbartionshire carried out a fact finding mission on the Antonine Walkway Project. They were accompanied by member's of various environmental agencies.  The group was shown round the network by trust coordinator James Hunt (centre), and a pleasant day was had by all.
